We pride ourselves on being an event for all the family and are always looking for new attractions to enhance our event each year, that is why we are excited to welcome the Worcester Model Boat Club and their model boats to this year's event.
Launching over 80 boats of different shapes, speeds and sizes, the club will be bringing the Chateau Impney river to life. Included will be models of a Whitby Trent lifeboat, Edwardian steamboats, speedboats, yachts and even a replica of the Orca 2 closely followed by Jaws.
Model boating has something for all the family, from age 8 to age 80 everyone can get involved, whether it is tacking a yacht along the river, racing a speedboat that can rival the speeds of some cars, or building your very own, detailed replica of an iconic boat, there is, without doubt, a lot of time and passion devoted by the members of this popular pastime.
This passion is demonstrated by the scale replica of the Bluebird K7 which will be on display at the event. The original Bluebird was the first successful jet-powered hydroplane with which Britain's Donald Campbell set seven world water speed records between 1955 and 1967. This fete of engineering is represented in this scale model which has it’s very own jet engine, unfortunately, it is too fast to be driven along our river. The detail is remarkable and evidence of the time and attention that it took to create this replica, right down to a miniature Mr Whoppit, Donald Campbell’s mascot teddy bear.
Head down to the river's edge at this year’s event see these fantastic boats set sail and try your hand at model boat sailing, you never know you may just get hooked!
