The event, which took place from 31 July to 2 August, proved to be yet another weekend of first-class motorsport. Competing in ERA R4A, which made its Chateau Impney debut in the hands of Nick Topliss, James broke the fabled 40-second barrier with a time of 39.68 seconds, and his highly successful run in R4A brought an end to Anthony Mayman’s 26-year class record.
Several other Chateau Impney competitors achieved fantastic results throughout the weekend too – Sue Darbyshire topped the Vintage classes in the Morgan Super Aero, Charlie Martin set a new class record in the Morgan RIP Special, and Mark Walker won the Clutton Memorial Trophy in the Darracq 200HP.
