Mark recorded the fastest time of 48.87 seconds in the Pre-1940 Special Sports Cars and All Supercharged Sports Cars over 1500cc class, beating his nearest rival by over two seconds.
He said: “I had the best run imaginable, far better than I’d expected. Usually I mess something up, but this time I didn’t. It was one of those days when everything was working well. I had one good practice run and just managed to go a bit quicker on the final run. I will probably never do that again!
“It was a great track that suits my car. It probably didn’t suit other people as well as I beat a host of competitors I wouldn’t normally beat.”
Mark, who drove a Ballamy Ford V8 Special, was full of praise for the return of the Hill Climb.
He said: “I had a fantastic day out. It was one of the best events I’ve been to, set in great surroundings and with amazing mix of cars.
“For a first event, it was very good. All credit to everyone involved in putting it on.”
