Malcom Thorne returned this year, entering the Lotus Buick in the Pre-1961 Sports and Sports Racing Cars over 2200cc Class, to defend his class win from last year, and did so claiming a new class record, with 43.34 seconds.
“The Chateau Impney Hill Climb Event is the highlight of my hillclimb season. I achieved my class win with a new class record of 43.34 seconds in my Lotus Buick, thanks to the team at Paul Matty Sportscars’ miraculous turn around, after an incident only three weeks prior. Their performance allowed me to present my car in its peak condition, to defend its class record and victory,” said Malcolm.
Malcolm managed to secure his new class record on his first run on the Sunday, which set the pace for the rest of the day!
“My sincere thanks and congratulations to Guy, Wendy and Roderick Spollon, for re-establishing and presenting what is now the best British hillclimb event, with such style and refinements for both spectators and drivers. The 7th and 8th July 2018 are already pencilled in my diary.”
The Chateau Impney Hill Climb 2018 will be held on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July.
