He won the Pre-1940 Standard and Modified Sports Cars Unsupercharged over 1500cc category in the Talbot-Lago Darracq T150C in a time of 50.73 seconds, just half a second ahead of his rival.
John said: “It’s only fun winning if you have competition and I definitely had some! My friend Marcus, in his Talbot Lago, was right behind me – he’s always trying to beat me and one day he might!
“It was actually a bit of a surprise to win. I thought a couple of others might have gone faster, but the triangle bit at the end made it difficult for bigger cars in the class. Overall, it was a wonderful weekend and I had a great time. A little bit of rain didn’t spoil it. All of my friends were there, it was like a very popular club meet.”
