ERA R4D is perhaps the most famous ERA. It was originally campaigned by Raymond Mays, founder of ERA Cars and one of the most noted pre-war hill climb personalities.
Mays won the British Hill Climb Championship in 1947 and 1948 in R4D, and continuing Mays’ great reputation, James Baxter has raced it very successfully within the historic motorsport circuit. While the British Hill Climb Championship is now geared towards more modern cars, James has earned awards and acclaim at numerous VSCC events, and it was a pleasure to welcome him to the inaugural Chateau Impney Hill Climb.
