David, driving a Lotus 23B in the Pre-1968 Sports and Sports Racing Cars up to 1500cc class, said: “It was wonderful to win the class. I wasn’t really following what the other competitors in my class were doing time wise, I was just concentrating on improving my own times. To come out on top was a very nice surprise. The course suited me and the car, even the twisty bit at the end.”
David, who won the class in 43.25 seconds, was, like many of the competitors, impressed with the organisation of the Chateau Impney Hill Climb.
He said: “The event was very well organised. All of the staff and motorsport marshals were very good, there was always someone to ask for information and advice. It was also a nice touch to have the prize-giving on the steps of the Chateau.”
